Quickpwn 2.0.2 is out

Good news for you windows users! Quickpwn for 2.0.2 is out. You can download it here. This is the GUI version. You can use my quickpwn GUI guide here for this.  Remember, this does not activate or unlock. So, you only want to use this if you are able to run 2.0.2 and already have phone service with your sim. For those that need more such as an unlock, you should wait for the full pwnage before moving to 2.0.2.

A few points to remind everyone:

1) This is for those that already updated to 2.0.2. It does not provide you with 2.0.2 as part of the process.

2) You can get 2.0.2 firmwares from my firmware page here.

3) If you’re having problems with the DFU steps, refer to my DFU page here.

4) Custom firmwares cannot be used with this process. It works differently. Where pwnage will allow you to create a firmware, pwn your device, then restore that firmware, this process will only pwn your phone and allow you to do so without a restore.

The C:/ windows just say “Please wait …is being jailbroken”

The iPhones turned on with Installer and Cydia, should I just close the window now because I’m going to close it?

I’m on 2.0.1 already, and would like to quickpwn to 2.0.2. Where can I find the 2.0.2 ipsw as your quickpwn guide only links to the 2.0.1 one.

    Thanks!

can someone pls make a custom firmware file, so i can install it, as my iphone is already pwned.

Pls make it like it has always been, a custom firmware will be nice. Thanks.

But if someone has Windows, can’t they make it in Quickpwn and then let us Mac users UPDATE ours to that custom one? So we don’t lose all our stuff….

    [Reply]

    A.T Reply:

It has a very similar method to ziphone. It’s only for windows yet, quickpwn as of yet will not work on mac no matter what.
It has nothing to do with custom firmwares, it just jailbreaks the firmware running on the iPhone/Touch and pwns the device.

Followed the guide all the way through using the new 2.0.2 ipsw - the restore doesn’t appear to work though, as I’m left with a (still jailbroken) 2.0.1 firmware.

You have to DFU Restore ipod or iphone to the version from apple. After doing this you use quickpwn to jailbreak the version you currently have running.
example. I have a 2.0.1 version, so I need to have 2.0.1 version ipsw and the quickpwn will jailbreak it to the same 2.0.1 version, it will install cydia and installer if you choose.
If you want to have 2.0.2, then upgrade ur phone or ipod normally as you would from itunes, then download the corresponding version, 2.0.2 from the web, and quickpwn to jailbreak that same version having cydia and installer on the homescreen, not in preferences
    hope this helps

The same has happened to me. Neither Cydia nor Preferences show up, because they were both hidden within BossPrefs. Jailbreak went fine. But since apps installed by Cydia do not show up, I cannot unhide Cydia.

Regarding DFU-mode… I have found a much easier way to enter.

Connect to the pc/mac and hold power + menu buttons down at the same time. Don’t start counting yet! Wait until the device turns off and THEN start counting one-two-three (3 seconds), before letting go of the power button. Keep the menu pressed until the pc/mac reacts to your device.

Very simple and has yet to fail. Give it a go :)

if i already use a custom firmware to unlock my 2g phone, i can upgrade to 2.0.2 using itunes and my phone remains unlock? so i can use quickpwn just to jailbreak?

    [Reply]

    Leadergo Reply:

you cant jailbreak twice (well u can, but you’ll f*** up your iphone).

best thing to do is backup your iphone to itunes (approx. 1 hour), restore the iphone, jailbreak/unlock, and re-sync iphone with backed up data… in that order.

if your phone is already pwnage, can i use this program? if so, will it erase all my other programs that i have on here? or it will simply upgrade.

    [Reply]

    Leadergo Reply:

no because the original pwning program is different from quickpwn and can cause your iphone/ipod to crash at start. preferably best to backup your iphone/ipod on iTunes, then restore the iphone/ipod. then try pwning it with quickpwn and sync backed up storage onto your iphone/ipod.

i jailbroke and unlocked 2.0.2 by doing the following… i connected my iphone to itunes and downloaded the new frimware directly from them , doing a restore/update , than i loaded up quickpwn and applied the 2.0.1 restore to my phone which took approx. 3mins , once this was complete my phone was jailbroken but still not unlocked… i went into cydia and downloaded the app bootneuter , than applied the settings version 3.9 , neuter - on , unlock - on .. restated the pohne boom.. unlocked and jailbroken
.and just if anyone ask’s so i dont need to reply to 1000 post’s i updated my iphone 2g from version 1.14 straight to 2.0.2 via itunes than applied the 2.0.1 restore ( not the custome one from this site the regular version off this site) than applied bootneuter via wifi directly on my phone - current version 2.0.2(5c1)

I seem to have a general problem with my PC.
I tried to pwn my 3g with winpwn. Didn’t work. After putting the phone into DFU mode iTunes doesn’t recognize it anymore. Tried countless times, all USB Ports. At first I thought I was too stupid to get into DFU mode, but I can see in the device mgr, that the phone is in DFU. Now I tried with Quickpwn and the command line part simply cancels after the countdowns. Are there any windows services that have to be running? I run XP SP 3. Latest iTunes.I already tried to delete/deinstall iTunes and Quicktime completely, but it didn’t work. Funny thing is that the regular updates with iTunes also don’t work as designed. I always get an error while updating and have to restore. Any ideas?

I’m a Mac user trying to figure this out on Paralels. I’m lost.

    I have a 3G running 2.0.2.

I have downloaded the IPSW software and have it in a folder on my desktop.

I have downloaded the newest (for 2.0.2) QuickPwnGUI120 file and have that in the same folder.

Do I ALSO need to download a QuickPwn file for 2.0.2? All I can find is ones from a few days ago that ONLY supported 2.0.1.

Once I have all these files in a folder what do I do? If I double-click the GUI file it says it wouldn’t initialize properly.

If I double-click the iPhone 3G file it tells me that it can’t find the 2.0.1 IPSW file… because it’s not there. Which is why I think I have the wrong version of QuickPwn.

    Help!

So basically everytime a firmware upgrade comes whether you use winpwn or quickpwn you are going to have to reload all of your Cydia apps. That part kind of sucks. I guess I could back them up with sftp first. It’s kind of weird there is a Cydia app that can backup App Store apps but not Cydia apps.

Guys look this is simple i went from 2.0.1 on a Apple iPhone ist Gen - follow this.

    1. Go to the firmware page and download the official firmware

    2. Open iTunes and update your phone to latest firmware. This will update phone but it won’t be jail broken but will be unlocked if it was unlocked and activated before.

    3. Run QuickPwn and follow instructions it will ask to browse to ispw file you downloaded earlier browse to there.

    4. Tick what you want installed, I like my apple logo so i unticked logo and i wanted Installer & Cydia.

    5. Let it then run through the jailbreaking, dont be scared it gets there in the end.

    6. The phone will boot up and there you have Installer, Cydia and the Appstore apps you had before along with contacts, sms etc all the stuff you had before except third party apps.

    Hope that helps…phew

Just updated to firmware 2.0.2 with iTunes and Quickpwn on my previous 2G custom firmware 2.0.1. This is what I did:
1.Update firmware 2.0.2 from iTunes, click “check for up Update” in iTunes.
2.After firmware 2.0.2 is updated on your iPhone and make sure everything is there and working. Cydia and Installer will not be there, but all others apps and settings and unlocked remain.
3.Fire up Quickpwn and select custom 2.0.1 firmware when prompt and follow the instruction in the DOS box. when finished your firmware 2.0.2 is jailbroken and cydia and Installer is back; everything else work just fine.

So, this means that I’ll lose all my customization, phone numbers, and info on my 2.0.1 phone if I were to upgrade to 2.0.2 firmware then quickpwn? There’s no way I can back this up, like for example using the itunes backing up feature?

    [Reply]

    Gabe,
Upgrade to 2.0.2 from 2.0.1 on 2G iPhone will not lose your settings or unlocked, only third party apps will need to reinstall.
I upgraded my yesterday, hardly notice anything changed, but thrid party apps seems to more stable, signal strength not improve.

I used iTunes to update and then quickpwn’d my phone. All is working well. I used Cydia to reinstall openssh and then took a look on my phone. All my cydia apps are still on the phone in the applications folder but none show up on my springboard. What do I do to make them reappear? Do I have any options over reinstalling? I don’t want to lose settings if I don’t need to.

Nevermind. I figured out why there were “listed” there. WinSCP was using a cache file for some reason and even the times I had hit refresh did not truely refresh the folder contents.

Would someone answer my question please?

    1) I am running 2.0.1 on my jailbreaked 3g iphone. Should I update the software to 2.0.2 thorugh iTone before using quickpwn 2.0.2?

    2) Will I loose all of my apps that I downloaded though cydia?

    3) How can I back up all of my third party apps that I downloaded through cydia in case if I lost them…

    Thanks,
    Mike

    [Reply]

    Tuck Reply:

    1. Yes…you must update to 2.02 via itunes FIRST. Then you can run quickpwn

    2. Yes, you will lose all of your 3rd party apps through cydia. You will not, however, lose any apps from the appstore or settings.

    3. There is no way to back up your 3rd party apps through cydia (at least not that I know of)

    2.0.2 Jailbroken unlocked 2g iphone NOT 3g
    Jailbroken=jailbroken from itunes
    unlocked=Unlocked from At$t

    1. Upgrade to 2.0.2 from itunes
    (this will remove cydia)
    2. Use 2.0.2 firmware for with quickpwngui120. I only installed cydia.
(it will stop at jailbreaking phone just ignore, close and goto next step obviously once your phone has booted up unless u like want a new ibrick)

    3. Use cydia to install bootneuter (I selected 3.9,neuter on, fakeblank off, unlock on flash & wait for it to complete)

    4. Reset Iphone

    5. Enjoy ;) If I have something wrong lick my ballz im just saying what worked for me so fuq off use at your own risk

This, unfortunately, will not activate your phone. Both unlock + activation are required for proper operation. As soon as you insert a tmobile sim or such, you will get “sim changed, connect to iTunes”. You will see a tmobile connection, however, but you will not be able to use it.

Does anybody have the definitive answer to this:

My iPhone 2G was jailbroken and unlocked on 1.1.4.

I updated to 2.0.2 in iTunes used QuickPwnRC3 to jailbreak it. I selected to unlock phone and entered the correct bootloader files. Everything appeared to go well.

Now, I’m just getting the ‘Emergency Calls’ slider and although it’s unlocked it’s not activated and wants to connect to iTunes - Why is this?

    How can I rectify this?

Had the same problem. After quickpwin iPhone was no longer activated, but jailbrake and unlock were sucessfull. Used winpwn 2.5.02 to jailbrake, unlock and activate Iphone 2G. Ispw succesfully created. Restore in DFU modus delivered 1602 error. Normal restore via iTunes was successfull with customized ipsw. Pls try

    Alano Reply:

Go to Cydia; use search to find BootNeuter.
    Install it. Follow instructions.
    Exit Cydia.
Disable auto-lock (set it to never in settings). Start BootNeuter from desktop (start screen).
Run it, follow instructions and you are done (after a reset or two). Reset after upgrade is done.
    It will fix YouTube too.

ok so im experiencing an error after i select the firmware version–basically step 3 in the quickpwn process. After i select the correct firmware (2.1 for first gen iPod Touch) quickpwn recognizes it and i click the arrow for the next step. Once i click the error the Windows error Reporter opens and tell me that quickpwn.exe has experienced an error and needs to close. It happens every time and with every version of quickpwn that ive found so what should i do?
