BossPrefs 2.12b Update

I updated BossPrefs today to version 2.12b. The changelog can be viewed in the link but one feature that is worth calling out. I added an apple killswitch neuter button. This will allow you to turn off Apple’s killswitch.

nice job there, i already tried it, just in case tho…

Two things ’bout it, i guess u used the same dialog box of boss pref to double tap cuz u firgot to change the title of the box ;)

..the second is that my phone crashed after the neuter thing, dunno know for sure if its related but the phone got frozen and restart, and it took a while to load for sure, other than that theres no prob on this, thx

i have some problems when enable SSH, it just don´t do it, i have to reboot iphone to have SSH enable, what might be the reason?

well this problem doesn´t happen anymore since updated to 2.0.2, maybe 2.0.1 problem or something i installed but so far it´s ok again

hi,

i´ve got a problem using boss prefs with my iphone 3g (FW 2.0.2)

ever since i deactivated EDGEm the phone app wont work any more…

i cant dial numbers and the application crahes within a few seconds.

after i activated EDGE via boss prefs everything works fine….

Ever since upgrading to 2.12b my edge and 3G toggles do not function at all. I can turn them on or off and no change happens. If I toggle 3G off I still have the 3G icon and am still able to browse the web. Same scenario with Edge only.

Hi,

I have an iPhone 2G with 2.0.1 (5B108) and BossPrefs v2.12b.

When I disable Edge (’New Edge Toggle’ is set to off, it dosn’t works for me), the Phone Appl crash after booting the iPhone. When I switch Edge On, Phone Appl works, but Edge is on. Switching off, no change happens (no SIM Lock happens).

Swiss Carrier Swisscom.

Any idea?

Boss,
I seriously LOVE this app, its the first thing I wanted when I got my 3G.
The only thing I wish it did, was have a VPN switch.
Also, if there was some info somewhere on how to add custom services.
It’d be MUCH appreciated.
THANKS again for a great app!!

1 last thing, next to wireless, where it shows my IP, if my IP address has all 3 digit #’s, the right parenthesis bumps down to the next line.

I also get the phone app crashes when edge is turned off. Not only that, I also notice the battery drains incredibly fast when this happens if I leave the iphone off. The usage timer seems to indicate the iphone is on the entire time even though it was off.

I really hope this issue can be fixed ASAP as I really like the Edge toggle. :(

It is just so cool, to go to bet, set the airplane mode on in boss prefs… I think a lot of people use their phone as an alarm clock… and therefore switch it into airplane mode over night.

Alternative: Maybe someone knows what to type in in the Add Service dialog to achieve an airplane toggle - an icon wouldn’t be the problem.

Just a quick note, like someone else wrote above, the 3G switch doesn’t do anything on my 2.0.2 iPhone.

I have still the problem with Edge (2G, 2.0.1, 2.12b). I can switch Edge on but if i switch it off, it is still on. I have to go to the flight mode to switch Edge realy off.

Is it possible to downgrade to a bossprefs version before 2.08 ?

To switch EDGE off I have to turn “EDGE” off and “New EDGE Toggle” off.

So both EDGE toggles have to be off otherwise my iPhone will still be connected to EDGE

I ask the same question ,and I havent got a responce yet, I even tried to restore my phone back to factory settings, and jailbreak it again, I couldnt even do that anymore.

how do i install bossprefs in my iphone2g 2.0.1 After i followed your guide i was able upgrade my 1.1.4 firmware to 2.0.1 using winpwn 2.0.0.4 but after installing apps from the applestore via itunes the apps sometimes dont open or if it opens it crashes immediately

Have there been any published directions on how to “add service” inside BossPrefs?

I imagine this is where we could add an “Airplane Mode” and a “vibrate only” toggles to boss prefs correct?

Hello,

I have the same problem as a few here where the 3G toggle doesn’t seem to reflect the actual 3G status of the phone and fails to change it.

Could I request a toggle for netatalk. This is a great deamon, but I have no idea if it drains batteries or not, and it might be nice to be able to shut it off until I need it.

I created a service for Netatalk!

-Create a text file (I named it Netatalk)

-Put the following text in the file (4 lines):
/bin/launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.saurik.afpd.dns-sd.plist
/bin/launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.saurik.afpd.dns-sd.plist
com.saurik.afpd.dns-sd.plist
/Applications/BossPrefs.app/afp.png

-transfer the text file into /Applications/BossPrefs.app/services

-reload BossPrefs and its there!

oh and the file I edited didn’t have an extention, it was just plain text. not sure if having a txt extension would mess things up.

you can also just type those four lines into Start, Stop, Process, and Icon within BossPrefs when adding a service

Thanks, been searching for this. I installed the file as you explained. But there seems to be no effect when switching Netatalk off. I can still access from my mac using afp. I have fw 2.0.2 and Bossprefs 2.12b

Wohoo! It worked better when entering the lines manually directly in BossPrefs. Must have scread up earlier when I tried to add the file.

Ahh, this doesn’t work - it tuens off the Bonjour advertisment for the service - but the service is still running.
com.saurik.afpd.dns-sd.plist just controls the bonjour stuff
net.sourceforge.netatalk.afpd.plist is the file that controls the actual netatalk daemon.

I love all of Big Boss’ apps, my only problem with BossPrefs, is that it wont allow me to rearrange my icons in the dock. I go to more>Dock Icons, and it wont allow me to move the icons up or down so that the four icons I want showing upon start show. It wont let me move them, other than that, the app is amazing, and i am also real excited to see categories back up!

Hi,

i’m looking for the command-lines doing the following :

- turn on/off the 3G
- turn on/off the wifi
- turn on/off the location services

I know the 3G and wifi switches already exist in bossprefs, but i want to also restart the mail app when i turn these services on/off
cause the mail app stops fetching the mails when you syitch between networks. Until the bug is fixed, that’s an easy workaround.

The locations services switch doesn’t exist in bosprefs, so if the command is known i think it would be an interisting one to add.

Also, i have a small problem with the 3g switch in bossprefs : it seems to work (even if it takes really long compared to the offical switch in the settings menu), and the 3G icon never comes…i have to go to settings/network, and come back (without changing anythng cause it says it’s active) for the 3G icon to appear….annoying…

Anyone else with this problem, or am i the only one ?

I have the problem with Edge (3G, 2.0.2, 2.12b).
I can turn off Edge. But once I turn it On, it won’t toggle to On and i cannot access internal through 3G / Edge.

iphone 2G: have the same EDGE problem that phone app crashes every time. This happended 2 weeks after install of 2.0.1 and EDGE deactivation with BossPref. Then installed 2.0.0 2 weeks ago and now I get it again. Batterie also drains in a few hours and phone gets REALLY hot. would be nice to have it fixed.

It’s weird, my iPhone 3G has the Edge problem causing phone app crashes but I just jailbreaked and my GFs iphone 3G and the Edge toggle works fine and her phone app doesn’t crash.

The differences between our iphones:
1) Mine is 16GB; her’s is 8 GB
2) Mine is OS 2.0.2 with 2.0 baseband; her’s came with 2.0.2 already upgraded so her baseband is also upgraded
3) Slightly different apps (she has all my apps except 1 or 2 she didn’t install)

So, there must be either an app conflict or the edge toggle isn’t compatible with the older baseband?

UPDATE:
I just restore my iPhone 3G with 2.0.2 but with original 2.0 baseband. No additional apps installed except cydia and the Edge toggle still crashes my iPhone! So I guess the problem lies in the baseband?

CONCLUSION: The Edge toggle works with the newer baseband in version 2.0.2 (probably also 2.0.1) But not on the older baseband in version 2.0

Can anyone confirm this as well?

I have also an iPhone 3g 2.0.2 with BossPrefs 2.12b and the same issue with Edge and the phone applet described above.

To bypass this issue, I have created a small shell script, starting and stopping the edge and 3g network interfaces.

I have done following:

in shell

> mkdir -p /usr/local/bin
> vi /usr/local/bin/pdpconf
>> #!/bin/sh
>> case “$1″ in

>> ifconfig pdp_ip0 up
>> ifconfig pdp_ip1 up
>> ;;
>> stop)
>> ifconfig pdp_ip0 down
>> ifconfig pdp_ip1 down

>> ifconfig pdp_ip0
>> ifconfig pdp_ip1
>> ;;
>>esac
> chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/pdpconf

Then in BossPrefs -> config -> Add Service
Name: Edge/3G interface
Start: /usr/local/bin/pdpconf start
Stop: /usr/local/bin/pdpconf stop
Process:
Icon:

Has the network status is a process, BossPrefs won’t reflect the effective status of of the interfaces, nor will it be shown in the Preferences, but when stopped no packet will flow through Edge or 3G.

the iphone mail app crashes upon starting and mail account settings cant be changed (no way to add a new account, old accounts cannot be modified) after bossprefs 2.12b on 2.0.2. the strange thing is its still crashing after upgrading to 2.1. anyone else has this kinda bug?

Can u put in Bossprefs an Enable/Disable Toggle for the Screenshots taken when pressing Home Button

The steps are: (it’s also included in the link)
# rm -rf /var/mobile/Library/Caches/Snapshots

# ln -s /dev/null /var/mobile/Library/Caches/Snapshots

To return to the default behavior, just delete the symlink and the directory will get recreated.
