2.0 Update

2.0 can be manually downloaded and installed. But do not do it! I tried it on my test phone and it seems to be permanently updated. You will need to wait for dev team and pwn 2.0 as a straight upgrade may be a one-way street. Understand that there is a difference between pwning 2.0 and updating to 2.0. Your pwning would start in 1.1.4.

Using common download procedures, DFU mode results in error 1600 and restore mode in error 20. No downgrade occuring.

Update: I have managed to downgrade successfully thanks to Geeb and Crumpx. I have added a guide to do the downgrade in the guides section.

Yes, search for and delete the file. Windows search or spotlight in OSX should find it. Just search for *.itl

BigBoss — one problem in this process is re-unlocking the phone.

I can go from 2.0 back to 1.1.4 fine and pwn the phone — however, my ATT SIM (not iPhone data plan, not activated) will not work. I also cannot unlock the phone because ( I think ) the baseband from the 2.0 firmware is too new. Bootneuter fails (err-5) in trying to go from my current 3.9 bootloader, not neutererd, not locked to anything else. Thus, I cannot really revert all the way back. I think this will be a common problem — how did you get around it?

ive managed to do most of the method that you mentioned (thank you so much for this, i almost crapped myslef thinking that i had bricked my phone)
    But anyway, i cant get
To get back to 04.04.05_G (1.1.4 baseband) load bootneuter. If you don’t have this, install it from installer. Run bootneuter with Neuter, 4.6, and unlock. When it’s done, you will have an unlocked 04.04.05_G right back where you started.
This bit to work, i keep getting error code 5?
    Any ideas would be fantastic
    Again thank you so much

Same happened to me, but I figured out how to fix it, and is working.

You need to use the “ZiPhone patched by kIREmK” version, just click on “downgrade” and “debug”. But the trick to get this done is to “jailbreak” the iphone BEFORE running the downgrade. Is the only way I managed to get my phone back from the BB 04_05_04_G!!

    Steps:

Step 1) You need to uninstall iTunes 7.7 and install iTunes 7.5 or 7.6.

Step 2) Now that you have iTunes 7.5/7.6, put your phone into DFU mode.

Step 3) Restore using iTunes 7.5/7.6. You will get an error like 1011, 1012, 1013, 1015 this is normal. Errors 1601, 1602, 1600 or anything else are not ok.

Step 4) Once you get the error above, leave iTunes open and kick your phone out of restore mode. I recommend iLiberty+

Step 5) Now use iLiberty+ (or any) to Jailbreak the phone and then run the patched ziphone version, just use “downgrade” and “debug”. After this you should have your phone ready without the 04.05.04_G BB.

Step 6) Restore using iTunes 7.5/7.6 to the original 1.1.4. Done, your iphone was restored to factory defaults, now use winpwn or the flavor you like to get your custom firmware, and you’ll see that the bootneuter now is working!!!.

    hope this helps!!

    Hi all
I have now succsesfully managed to get my iphone back up and running, a very scary process and has taken me all of 14 hours to do. (more me being noob than anything else) unforchunatly i had to use the patched version of ziphone to restore the original bootloader and i kept getting error 5 when trying to use bootneuter. thankfully it worked this time, god knows if it would ever happen again. But thank you so much for all the help from this website, i very almost gave up and threw the phone in the bin

by the way i am using at&t for my service so that might help in my case.as far as those of you that did the jailbreak and unlock to use on a different carrier is probably why the baseband does not work correctly on your phones. but i do hope you all get your phones working correctly for you again.

    guys,

    i did this…

I used 1.1.3 firmware, (not that much different than 1.1.4…) and i got the 1015 error.

I followed the instructions up to where you need to be taken out of restore mode.

I used Iliberty to force the phone into normal mode and it activated.

Then I used Ziphone to unlock, jailbreak, and activate.

I reloaded my iphone back to 1.1.4 with itunes, and got the 1015 error. Used Ziphone to get the phone back into normal mode, used ziphone to unlock it, jailbreak etc…. and then used the patched ziphone app to downgrade the baseband to 04.04 (from 04.05 which 2.0 gives you) then rejailbroke the phone and got it back up and running.
oooo and to check the baseband version, if you type *3001#12345#* into the phone dialer, either in normal mode or as an emergency call and then click on the version tab it should tell you what baseband your running. Once youve got it so that it says 04.04 you should see that the phone also says what carrier your on and gives you signal. Unforchuntaly i cant be too much more help as i have no real idea how i did most of this, i basically read through everything that i could find on the net (and this website) and spent 14 hours doing it. Hope some of this helps, if not ill try and put together a list of what i did. Also i dont know if this matters, but im in the UK using a UK phone on Vodafone
    Cheers

Use the patch version of ZiPhone, called KiPhone, to erase the baseband 04.05.04_G from FW 2.0, then use iTunes again to restore your phone back to 1.1.4, by doing that, iTunes will install the baseband 04.04.05_G to you phone. Then you should be able to bootneutered your phone however you wanted.
    Thats how i did anyway.

    ERROR: 1012

I upgraded my 1.1.4 iPhone to the new 2FW release. Surprise surprise, nothing worked. So I’ve been trying to downgrade to 1.1.4 again using iTunes 7.5. No problem there, except…when I complete the restore of 1.1.4 i get error 1012

I managed to boot the phone, and checked the IMEI, ICCID, Modem etc… and the values were all blank. Then i got a msg on the iPhone screen saying “This iPhone cannot make or receive calls.”

But stuck on where to go? any ideas?

You guys are reading the guide? http://sleepers.net/news/?page_id=216

Error 20 is covered in the guide: you are not in DFU mode.

The guide talks about how to properly downgrade your itunes from 7.7 to 7.5 allowing you to have the 7.7 driver with itunes 7.5. This lets your DFU mode device be recognized.

Error 1012 is new. Try restoring 1.1.4 again and see if you still get the error.

Got It WORKING!!!! Thankyou x 100!!!

I bought my first iPhone today with 2.0 pre-installed by seller. Followed the instructions from here & iclarified.com and it worked using iTunes 7.5, winpwn & iLiberty in that order, but I had NO service. Trying Bootneuter gave the Error (5). So this is what I did to get my T-Mobile sim working using tips from the above comments:

1)Followed instructions up to iTunes Error 1015. 2)Ran winpwn
    3)ran iLiberty
4)Then I ran Kiphone (selected “DownGrade” & “Debug”)

After a few anxious moments, my phone rebooted, had full bars & T-Mobile on the top. Itunes then opened, synced, and it all works perfect.

Thanks to the BigBoss & the posters for the help. Before 5pm I was a Noob thas never had a iPhone, nor used one.

Just wanted to say a big thanks, BigBoss. My dad accidentally upgraded his firmware from 1.1.4 to 2.0, and your guide made it easy to restore the phone so that it’s working OK again.

One comment: you may want to say how to “kick your phone out of restore mode”. It took me a little while to figure out that this was a menu option in iLiberty+ (for Mac OS X). I realise this is obvious for people who’ve done a lot of iPhone hacking, but if you just stumbled upon this guide and have only unlocked a phone once or twice, it’s not obvious how to get it out of restore mode.

    Anyways, many thanks!

Unfortunatly is not as easy as it seems. If somebody has an answer please reply. I tried to download itunes 7.5 from different sites. It seems that there are somehow different versions of 7.5 because i have different error messages. Eror 20 in itunes 7.5 yes in 7.5 and even worse..that there is a newer version of itunes…so..i canot restore i can’t do anything, even worse it’s very hard to control the iphone because if i turn it on i got the picture with the cable and the icon from itunes.
