Since I inhereted the term app from Conceited Software, I decided to grab the latest version and update it proper, and oh what a fantastic update it is. This update is more of an overhaul than an update. There are tons of new features but some of my favorites are:
- Rotate for landscape mode
- Swipe left and right for 4 different term windows!
- Logs in as mobile user without having to enterĀ a password (su to gain root)
- You can hotkey anything with a built in menu letting you customize hotkeys, gestures, you name it.
If you like having a term at all, this is the term to get. Grab it from our installer repository. Note: Saurik will be hosting the Cydia version.

After updating my Term-vt100 to v298, I typed su and enter alpine as the password. An error “incorrect password” occurred. This did not happen before.
Please help.

Perhaps you need SUID Lib fix.

I just installed the SUID Lib fix and it still does not work. Why when I was on v198 everything was OK. As soon as I updated, can not login as root anymore with an “incorrect password” error.
I’m on firmware v.1.1.4
Please help in getting this solved.
Thanks.

It works for me (can’t reproduce this). Perhaps you are typing the password incorrectly. If you cannot get it working then I suggest that you file a bug report at the google code page for the app. Search mobile term at code.google.com.

I added iphone.lenlolabs.com to my Installer sources and installed the “BSD Subsystem 2.x SU Replacement” in the Tweaks category. Everything works now.
Thanks.

hey bigboss,
How do I scroll up and down in the terminal window? If I do it like on the old terminal or MobileSafari, it just makes a new line in terminal, as if I had pressed the return key

thank you for updating Terminal!
there seems to be, however, a problem with “Poof”: Terminal-vt100 is still listed as hidden (but was hidden by BossPrefs) and can’t be removed!
could you, please, look into this issue?
and could you, please, list wich terminal fixes, if any, can be removed?

All the term fixes are still required. I cannot reproduce the issue with poof. Its working fine here. Its not clear to me what is meant by “cannot be removed”.

Both “Terminal” (new) and “Term-vt100″ (old name) are listed among hidden apps!
If I “Tap to Show” it… nothing happens and it’s back there (in “Hidden”) everytime I launch Poof

Even uninstalling (then reinstalling) Poof, Terminal and BossPrefs didn’t do: Term-vt100 is still listed in Poof’s “Hidden” apps!

Great Update..went from usable to WOW! Apple really needs to support additional BT profiles..an off-screen keyboard would make this perfect for sys-admins.
The problem with Poof is if you hide an app then uninstall the app while hidden, it’ll remain in the list of hidden app’s. You have to re-install the app (has to have the same name.app) then go into poof and unhide the app (yes it will be hidden and still displayed on springboard after re-installing AND in the hidden list of poof). Then, uninstall and it will be gone from Poof lists of hidden and visable app’s.

As it was supposed to be just an update, I didn’t un-hide Term-vt100 in Poof, but “someone” ;) (without warning) also changed app’s name, so… all the hassle
Fixed, now, by duplicating, renaming, un-hiding, uninstalling, deleting, re-installing. Thank you, mjohns! :)

I have a bug, I’m not sure if it is with your version or if I should file it over at the google code page. When I double click on the screen to remove the keyboard, and then I go back to the homepage, when I return and try to get the keyboard up it doesn’t come. So I have to always remember not to have the keyboard down when I move to another application. Otherwise I have to reboot the iPod.
Any tips/where to file a big report?
