Big warning to any ZiPhone users. Zibri’s WiFi fix is extremely dangerous. It hard codes your WiFi adapter’s MAC address to “00:5a:49:42:52:49″. This is ASCII for “Zibri”. This will cause major networking issues. All network cards sold are guaranteed to have a unique MAC address. It’s the lowest layer of how packets are routed. Now any two phones on the same network will not be able to operate properly on the network. Bottom line: stay away from ZiPhone.

I unlocked and jailbroke my iphone using Zibris software. Is the wifi fix separate application that I would have to download in order to be at risk? I checked my mac address and it is not the same as the one you published here. Is there anything I can do now!?Thanks for your advice!!!!

Is your Wifi working? If so, don’t worry about it. If not (it’s all grey and you cant enable it) see if iLiberty+ has a wifi fix payload. This is why you should stay away from Ziphone.

Why is everyone hatein on ziphone, and who the hell is using 2 iPhones on the same home network that both needed the wireless fix? Riddle me that?

Hecktic: easy to answer. First, we have 5 iPhones in the family. But that aside, go to a hotspot, library, school, and it is very likely. Even if it is not likely, its just a really dumb thing to do. MAC address is supposed to be unique.
Why does everyone hate Ziphone? Because Zibri is not an app developer and really doesn’t know how to code (he even admits this). His code has lots of issues and is very unreliable. The brick rate is really high. Sure, the app works most the time, but when it does not work it is curtains for the user.

I unlocked with Ziphone 2.5 and it´s all working great. What´s the best way to unlock my phone? It´s Liberty+ ?
If i do a restore can i use Liberty+ instead of Ziphone?

If your ziphone is working great, leave well enough alone. No need to redo it.

hi Big Boss
thanks for helping us understand these things
you posted:
> WiFi adapter’s MAC address to “00:5a:49:42:52:49″
I used About on my iPhone to check my wifi address and it is not the one you posted.. My phone is unlocked with ZiPhone, and although it came OTB with BL 3.9, so Ziphone did not change that, I dont want my WiFi MAC address to say Zibri in ascii
where do I look to confirm my wifi MAC address,, is it not the same as the About info Im looking at, labeled Wi-Fi Address?
my wifi works fine
are you saying the non unique ID wifi fix is a separate program from Zibri, or built into Ziphone?
thanks

Sound like you’re in pretty good shape.
WiFi address should only get changed using Zibri’s wifi fixer tool built into Ziphone. If the command line parsing is working then you shouldn’t get this to run unless you specify to do so.

I’m not a part of the community per se, just a shmuck who bought an OTB 1.1.3 and used Ziphone.
it’s terrible, all sorts of issues (WiFi + Safari + email issues) and now I wonder how to restore.
1/ The MAC address- how to fix?
2/ Restore to 1.1.4 then +liberty possible?
3/ Wait for 2.0 unlock?
Tom

hi,
i bought a 3g one an i though i might as well try to upgrade my old iphone (unlocked with ziphone) to 2.0. It didn’t go all that well so i used your instruction to downgraded (thanks for that)and the i (with out reading/knowing the warnings about ziphone) i used ziphone to “break it”. It all worked fine apart from one little glitch:
I HAVE NO NETWORK.
any help/guidance/shoulder to cry on?
thanks
