Well it’s still not available for Windows users officially, but what you can do is follow these instructions and load the pre-built custom firmware image. You will have to download the image from a torrent. The details are able to be found here.

Step 1: Use WinPWN 1.0 To PWN Your 1.1.4 iPhone. If you need WinPWN Get it: http://www.winpwn.com/files/winpwn_1.0.0.3_RC1_Setup.zip
Step 2: Install BootNeuter (Available Via Installer).
Step 3: Run BootNeuter and have it Neuter your iphone
Step 4: Make sure your iTunes version is at 7.7
Step 5: Grab a pre-created IPSW Made with PWNAGE 2.0 Mac. If you dont have one made you can grab one here: http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4305453/iThor__s_iPhone_2.0_Custom_Firmware_Vanilla_(5A347)
Step 6:Put your phone into recovery or DFU mode.
Step 7: In iTunes Shif+Click the Restore button and find your custom IPSW Firmware file.
Step 8: Wait for it to complete! ENJOY!

Reminder: as of right now, there are no apps out for 2.0. Over the next few days some will come out. So do not update yet if you have some favorite 1.1.x apps you are using! 2.0 will not run 1.1.4 apps!

  I found this program online this week and tested it out myself. You get 111 free minutes after that you have to pay for service (I think), 111 minutes is great right? I don’t know about you guys but I use t-mobile and at my house my service is not that great!  This service works with wifi network so make sure you have wifi at your house. No credit card needed to signup. Let me know your guys feedback. If you guys have been visiting iPhone Dev Team you have notice that they are very close on releasing the jailbreak/unlock for 2.0.  While they don’t have 3G working at the moment the release should be very helpful for all of us with 1st generation iPhone’s.  Soon we will have installer and the App Store together. So I was catching up on the recent events of the morning and came across Zibri’s latest post. Hoping it would provide me some entertainment, I read it. I noticed something in his post that I believe is untrue and nothing anyone has to worry about so I decided to post it here and explain:

Zibri states in his latest status update:

“About the ’soon to be released’ hacks,
think about the playstation or online games;
you can crack them, but you won’t be able
to play online with legit buyers.

Now think: what is an offline iPhone?
A paperweight.
That’s what you’re gonna have
if (WHEN) apple decides to push a button.
And this time they will.”

To this, I want to speak. There is no way Apple can “push one button” and turn your phone into a brick. They cannot kick you offline either.  Shame on Zibri for trying to generate some panic amongst those that are not so technically inclined. This data is false please disregard it. It is impossible for Apple to kick you offline for any reason. They do not control the networks! So, please no one worry about this shinanigens.

The worst thing Apple can do is kick you off Appstore. And, to this, I say it is ridiculous. Apple is making a a fortune off you from Appstore and would never do something like this. Estimates say 30% of folks jailbreak their phone. They would never turn off 30% of potential sales. They haven’t kicked anyone off iTunes store for jailbreaking.

Anyways, I will be looking forward to the upcoming 2.0 jailbreak. You should be too.

So the appstore has not impacted installer much. In fact, since the 11th the bandwidth for the repository has almost doubled. One of my hostings even closed me down today. Speculation could be that many folks are updating to 2.0 then having to downgrade and reinstall all their apps.

The guy’s over at Pinch Media emailed me some interesting analysis of appstore apps. I thought I’d share it:

“On AppStore launch, Pinch Media counted 552 applications - 417 of them paid, 135 of them free. Paid applications ranged in price from $0.99 to $69.99, with the most common price points being $0.99 (85 applications), $9.99 (82 applications), and $4.99 (62 applications). We’ve put together a bar graph of iPhone application price distribution, below.”
