iPhone 2.0.2 is out

iPhone firmware 2.0.2 is out. But as always, do not update until we get word on a jailbreak. You can get the firmware files from our firmware links here.  The changelog officially only says “Bug Fixes”.

Is it just me or is the link to 3G and 2G 2.0.2 the same? At first glance they look the same…maybe I’m missing something?

sorry for the double post, but usually the 3G is 1,2 I think right? and both links use 1,1 but I tried changing it to a 2 but the link wasn’t valid so something else in the link must change too.

    Hello,

Well I know this might not be the appropriate place to post this but I don’t know where I should post this as I searched for similar problems and no one seems to have it on this site but lot of people are complaining here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1607690&tstart=0

My problem is after I upgraded to 2.0.1 with the jail break my safari and my mail app is acting weird safari will connect at times and at times it wont and all this with full wifi on. The mail app will not work fine and the Cydia and the app store too was acting weird then I did the bigboss fix of dir permissions and since then atleast they are working fine and I even reset the network settings so why is it tat mail and safari is acting like this. Please help as I have been googling till no end on this and I cant find a solution.

    On a different place I read -
“Did an update directly from iTunes - using the ‘Update’ button.
(Do NOT use the ‘Restore’ button)
You will lose your jailbreak if you do this.
That kept the jailbreak and the new firmware”

    Is this correct ?

    How I pwned 2.0.2:

    Upgrade to 2.0.2 in iTunes
    Download quickpwn
Extract quickpwn and place 2.0.1 IPSW in it.
    Follow quickpwns steps
    And voila!

It does work, Quickpwn doesn’t install the 2.0.1 firmware so you can have 2.0.2 on your iPhone and jailbreak it by placing the 2.0.1 firmware.

I think its because nothings changed in the firmware 2.0.2.

Its similar to ziphone, it jailbreaks the firmware on the iPhone not the one you placed in the folder.

The firmware is just a “base” for Quickpwn to use.

Pwnage has many unnecessary options on it like “iPwner”. Which you don’t really need to use to restore to a custom firmware through iTunes.

    Quote from http://blog.iphone-dev.org/

“If you want to update to 2.0.2 then use the normal iTunes update to get to 2.0.2 and then use QuickPwn to Pwn, Jailbreak and Activate, remember that the 2.0.2 update includes a baseband update for the 3G iPhone, so depending what your long term intentions are for the phone, update wisely, of course in the upcoming PwnageTool application you’ll be able to create a custom ipsw without the baseband update enabled.”

I did it on my 2g iphone, and it worked great!!

Only problem is i cannot get SSH to work, but Apple might have updated the password… it has been a while…

If you are reading any of the reports most people are commenting that they are getting worse signal then before. Also, some apps crashing - most don’t think this is a fix for the signal but only minor things like contacts, and faster operations.

Sometimes better to sit back a bit and observe the scene.

Well i ran into a problem doin this method…..turns out when i did the update thru itunes it kept my contacts, my music and all my appstore bought apps, BUT for some reason itunes says i still have 1.5GB of other in my iphone….now that 1.5GB was of all the other apps and cydia stuuf i had…..but since its all gone now, the space still shows up……So i have to start from scratch backing up my phone now and Restoring to a 2.0.2 IPSW….and Using quickpwn to jailbreak……..

I notice this when i was installing everything back from cydia and all my other apps manually ….my SSH kept crashing and i also checked thru BossPrefs for disk space and it said that i had 0 left on my media partition.SUKS but oh well starting all over.

#11 post is right it works great I have 2.02 with cydia all working great.just use quickpwn loaded with ipsw 2.01 loaded after UPDATING from Itunes to 2.02. UPDATE DO NOT REsTORE>>>>

    [Reply]

  27. 29. zaphod August 19th, 2008, 2:15 pm

    Procedure I followed is:

    1. “Update” using iTunes to 2.0.2 (DO NOT RESTORE)
    2. iTunes comes up with 2.0.2 software shown and T-Mobile as carrier (unlock still works)
    3. Shutdown iTunes after update is done. Checked phone. No Cydia or installer.app
    4. Run “Quickpwn” using 2.0.1 standard firmware (not custom)in the same directory as Quickpwn
    5. After restart re-installed my apps from Cydia and installer. Everything is working fine.

    SMS is MUCH faster
    Contacts is MUCH faster

If there are any non-believers I can post screenshots.

    [Reply]

    christos Reply:

It might work - but probably leaves the iPhone software in an amalgamation of 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 system files…

TMobile. I had the Blackberry plan - when we jailbroke the phone after I got it. I *think* I was in 1.13 - gosh I can’t remember what it was because someone did it for me. Now, I did everything this time with the latest here. I can get calls, call, text, etc. Just fine. Just can’t do any “internet” type stuff without being on WiFi. I see settings inside that let me enter information into the network area but have no clue what to put there and if I should.

    [Reply]

    zaphod Reply:

Do you still have the BlackBerry plan (19.99)? If so then you should be good to go. If not (you downgraded to the 5.99 plan) then you need to use bigboss tzones fix which can be found in Cydia.

This REQUIRES a restart of the device to activate it.

okay strange…just checked with tmobile account - yes, I still have the Blackberry Plan. Strange. I never changed anything. But installing the tzones seems to have worked. So far. Thanks.

Hi BOSS. I am from Brazil and my iphone’s WIFi was ZIPHONED. That I solved with using ZIPHONE to delete the baseband in the advanced features menu. And after a restore my MAC address was live again. The problem is after using DevTeam software to update to 2.0 or 2.0.1 my Wifi will not find any router. So, I downgrade to 1.1.4 and WiFi lived again. The question if I update to 2.0.2 it will still wornking? Sorry for my English.

I just deleted the logo.png and recovery.png file from QuickPwnGUI using Winrar.

What will happen if I jailbreak?

OK, I found out GUI won’t load and QuickPwn won’t find the logo.png.

Can anyone link me to the stock Apple logos?

    Thanks

Hey guys, can someone confirm that Bluetooth works if I jailbreak to 2.0.1? I have a bluetooth car visor that kicks a55 that I do not want to loose. If it does affect bluetooth is there another way to install Cydia on my iphone 3G without jailbreaking it? Thanks guys!

i jailbroke and unlocked 2.0.2 by doing the following… i connected my iphone to itunes and downloaded the new frimware directly from them , doing a restore/update , than i loaded up quickpwn and applied the 2.0.1 restore to my phone which took approx. 3mins , once this was complete my phone was jailbroken but still not unlocked… i went into cydia and downloaded the app bootneuter , than applied the settings version 3.9 , neuter - on , unlock - on .. restated the pohne boom.. unlocked and jailbroken
.and just if anyone ask’s so i dont need to reply to 1000 post’s i updated my iphone 2g from version 1.14 straight to 2.0.2 via itunes than applied the 2.0.1 restore ( not the custome one from this site the regular version off this site) than applied bootneuter via wifi directly on my phone - current version 2.0.2(5c1)
